FLY AWAY

A tiny child dressed in new
sat in the grass quietly
She watched others at play
They sang songs with high
pitched laughter as she looked to the sky
and the sun kissed her face

Wet streams rolled down her face
for she hated being the new
kid at school In a sky
of faces hers was unnoticed Quietly
she wished for a hello or a hi
but that day she wouldn't play

Now a teenager she loved to play
She had something about that face
The boys loved getting her high
in the backseats of cars She knew
she was known as "that kind of girl" Quietly
she got around with her feet in the sky

She moved fast from acid to x Her sky
was hazy it filled up her head Playing
with trippers that changed her quietly
you could tell by looking at her face
Sick of her life she searched for something new
but her reachable goals were too high

Now in her twenties she stood high
on a mountain breathing in the sky's
cool breath The taste was something new
The wind sang its song and played
across her face
as the pain in her chest grew quiet

Overwhelmed the Earth was quiet
with wisdom High
above a bird flew over to face
what was to come The sky
glanced to the bird that played
in its path and even the bird knew

Suddenly she too knew
as the wind stopped playing

and her heart
soared through
the sky.

SOYBEAN PLANT

I am leaf
If you are petiole
from stems to roots
we grow and spread
shading light

we give and give

VIRUS ENTRY, CELL FUSION

I.
You found me through my computer
frequently
same message, same time
6 o’clock sharp, same day, same sign
another date appears
its a warning of changed time
and I ask myself
what will I find?

II.
December 31st 1969-
Jefferson Airplane’s New Years show.
Grateful Dead starts “China Cat” in Boston.
Congo-Brazzaville becomes Republic of Congo.
Jackson 5’s “Want You Back” makes number one.

III.
You’ve ignored me for years
and just now come to find
that a google is not a googol
and that numbers define everything.
So why am I
the reason on your mind?
You’ve searched
and found
nothing

BETWEEN MY LEGS

remember the orange light
how it swung and swelled
playing tag off mirrors and walls
presses its lips
a sparkle in its path
lit up my skin and danced

movements made me
calm colors
cooed
magic roots lapped up in flames
flood full
and turned me

free

Morning Break

In the morning
when I wake
I feel a coolness
like sticky palms that
clings to my back
then kisses my face
Why has this happened
two days straight
Is it anxiety
or reality
I step into the shower
to undress this sweat
as I feel the water
trickle down
I realize you are dead.

ChOKE

pouring down my throat
suffocating sting

stinging my heme
this can't be a dream

dream of what's real
when real is what's not
Pupils Awake
no smell
no taste
no nose
no mouth

i'm not falling down, i'm up
false south.

HE RAPED ME

"And follow the flight of a bird from a fence"

I think of my future
how it was crumbled
swept away by the man at his knees
If diamonds filled my fingertips
they'd be lost at sea in a sky of light
too bright for my own stars

Clouds formed my swollen eyes
as rain fell down on me
Whispering whys filled up the Earth
and the clothesline stripped naked stared back
